Artist Bio
Syakirul Akmal is a illustrator/ painter who is based in Singapore. He is currently studying Diploma in Fine Arts in LASALLE College of the Arts. Syakirul's works tend to tap into his personal findings such as self-improvement, identity and fascinations.

Sketching characters from movies and cartoons at the age of eleven, at that time, influenced by his brother, a graduate from LASALLE College of the Arts. Syakirul would from time to time, get inspired by his brother's projects and sketchbooks. Subsequently, he develops hobbies like singing, dancing and painting.
Artist Statement
My artworks explore self-improvement through gathered information from books and online discussion websites. I am intrigued by sentiments and theories regarding lifestyle rituals for the improvement of psychology and our physiology.
My creative practices are mostly 2D. I appreciate mediums such as acrylic paints, charcoal and graphite. I personally find these tools easy for stimulating thoughts, encouraging me to express my mood rather having it untouched.
